One of the country’s largest social care charities has named its new chief executive.
Jim Kane took over the top job at Community Integrated Care yesterday.
Kane, who has been the charity’s chief financial officer since 2019, will succeed Mark Adams, who stepped down last September.
CIC supports about 3,500 people a year across England and Scotland and employs 6,000 staff. It raised more than £140m last year.
Adams left the charity in September after five years to start a role in the United Arab Emirates.
Libby Raper, chair of trustees at CIC, said Kane had been chosen because of the “judgment, composure and vision” he would bring to the top job.
Kane worked in senior roles at private healthcare providers before joining CIC.
Experts have warned that social care charities face several separate crises, including staff shortages and a lack of funding, with one organisation claiming that government inaction had left the sector “teetering on a precipice”.
Kane said: “The challenges in our sector are well documented, and my focus from day one will be to face these head on to deliver the best lives possible for the people we support and colleagues.”
