A fraudulent fundraiser has been jailed after raising at least £5,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support and keeping it for herself.
Annette Wilcox collected money from the public at car boot sales and steam rallies across the country.
Shrewsbury Crown Court heard that she committed the crimes between July 2015 and June 2016, then from September 2019 to May 2020.
Wilcox had approached the charity about fundraising and was given tins and a letter of authority, the Shropshire Star reported.
Recorder Charles Thomas said she attended events for Macmillan on at least 22 occasions.
Catherine Donnelly, prosecuting, said Wilcox would have collected £500-1,000 at each event.
Wilcox, of Arden Avenue, Dawley, Telford, pleaded guilty to two counts of fraud by false representation.
Her defence advocate said she kept money to pay for pitch fees and tombola items.
Recorder Thomas jailed her for 12 months, saying she had shown a “lack of remorse”.
