Winners of Third Sector Awards 2022 revealed

Islamic Relief has won Charity of the Year at the Third Sector Awards 2022.

The winners were announced at a lunchtime reception in central London, hosted by the writer and performer Ben Bailey Smith.

Islamic Relief, which was named Charity of the Year in the large charity bracket, was called a “visionary charity” by judges “that takes responsibility for issues both locally and globally and is not afraid to step in wherever needed”.

The social mobility charity upReach won Charity of the Year in the medium charity category, while the young people’s mental health charity stem4 was the winner in the small charity bracket.

Stem4’s founder and leader, Dr Nihara Krause, also took home the Charity Chief Executive award for exceptional work with the organisation.

Karolina Gerlich of the Care Workers’ Charity was named Rising Chief Executive.

The Small Charity, Big Achiever award went to Shivia, for its work to stop the cycle of poverty facing smallholder farmers in West Bengal, India.

Shelter won the Fundraising Campaign award for The Drive, which raised more than £2.2m for the housing and homelessness charity.

The Paralympian Stefanie Reid was named Celebrity Charity Champion for her work with the Leprosy Mission.

The Charity Chair of the Year award went to Nick Bird of Solving Kids’ Cancer UK.

Finance Team of the Year – Winner: Disasters Emergency Committee

Frontline Team of The Year – Winner: Langdon

Fundraising Campaign – Winner: Shelter for The Drive

Fundraising Team of the Year – Winner: Refugee Action
