Blake Shelton Reveals Cher Yelled At Him During The Voice Season 5

Movies

Blake Shelton revealed an unaired moment from season 5 of The Voicewhen Cher yelled at him. Back in 2013, Cher acted as a mentor for Team Blake, and in an interview for the show, the singer had nothing but nice things to say about the show’s coach. Cher called Blake “funny and easy” and admitted that the two got along very well. The country singer had equally nice things to say about the “Believe” singer, calling it “amazing” getting to work with her. He also said he had a great time hanging out with the “legendary singer” and admitted that she turned out to be just as great as he hoped she’d be.

Along with coaching contestants on Team Blake, Cher also performed on The Voice season 5 finale, debuting her song “Woman’s World” off her twenty-fifth studio album Closer to the Truth. The finale marked the singer’s first live performance in over a decade, with her album release being her first in 12 years. Her performance featured lots of lights, sparkly costumes, and backup dancers in typical Cher fashion. The performance was very well received by coaches who were seen dancing along in their seats as Cher belted the words to her song.

Fans of The Voice, unfortunately, didn’t get to see the hilarious moment when Cher yelled at Blake. CMT reports that Blake reminisced about the moment during an interview at Country Radio Seminar. According to the coach, he was working with one of the contestants when he noticed they were being very shy with their performance. He encouraged them to be more confident in their stage presence, saying, “Man, what are you doing with the microphone? Grab that microphone. Make that microphone your b—h.

While Blake thought his comments were harmless, Cher was not fond of his word choice, immediately responding, “What the f— did you just say? Do you have any idea what I stand for?” Blake was surprised and, frankly, a little afraid to respond to his team’s mentor. However, the show’s band director, Paul Mirkovich, immediately de-escalated all tensions in the room by responding, “I don’t think it’s microphone rights, I’ll tell you that.” His comments made everyone laugh, and Blake and Cher have been on great terms ever since. Gwen Stefani’s husband even admitted that at the time, his father had just passed away, so he’d told Cher what a big fan his father was of her music. Sixth months later, Cher added a dedication to Blake’s father, Dick Shelton, to the liner notes of her album.

It turns out Blake’s moment of fear turned into something very sweet that he’ll remember for the rest of his life. Cher is known for her bold personality and standing up for what she believes in, so it’s no surprise she had something to say in response to Blake’s comments during filming for The Voice. However, it’s good to see that the singer didn’t hold a grudge and was able to laugh it off in the end. Cher remains one of the most beloved performers of all time, and it’s great to hear that she’s just as lovely as she appears to be.
