Kim Kardashian has not commented in recent weeks on her ex Kanye West’s public pleas to save their marriage, or his posts and songs against her and her boyfriend Pete Davidson on social media. But yesterday, Kardashian requested in court documents for her marriage to West to be terminated ASAP due to the “emotional distress” West’s public moves have caused her, Rolling Stone and TMZ report.
“I very much desire to be divorced. I have asked Kanye to keep our divorce private, but he has not done so,” Kardashian said in the new statement filed in court that Rolling Stone and TMZ obtained. “Kanye has been putting a lot of misinformation regarding our private family matters and co-parenting on social media which has created emotional distress. I believe that the court terminating our marital status will help Kanye to accept that our marital relationship is over and to move forward on a better path which will assist us in peacefully co-parenting our children.”
She added, “While I wish our marriage would have succeeded, I have come to the realization that there is no way to repair our marriage. Kanye does not agree but at least it appears that he has come to the realization that I want to end our marriage, even if he does not. I ask that the court restore me to the status of a single person so that I can begin the healing process and so that our family can begin the healing process and move forward in this new chapter in our lives.”
A hearing is set for March 2. Kardashian’s statement comes after West’s lawyer asked the court to deny Kardashian’s pending request to be made legally single last week, arguing that West is afraid Kardashian might remarry and move some of their assets to her accounts. Kardashian’s lawyer argued in the new documents that those arguments have no merit as “there is no community property” and “there are no jointly titled assets” thanks to the ironclad prenup the couple had.
