Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege appears to be joining in on spooky season festivities, seeing as Ubisoft has announced the Doktor’s Curse limited-time Halloween event is making a revamped comeback on October 12th. Inaugurated in 2019 (without returning until now), the Rainbow Six Siege horror-themed limited-time event originally saw two teams battling it out 5v5 in a hide-and-seek mode called Monster Hunt. Taking the role of the Exterminators or Monsters with different weapons and abilities, players could compete at a haunted house in a Frankenstein-themed version of the Theme Park map to unlock exclusive cosmetics and Halloween-themed items.

Ubisoft has been pushing out unique limited-time seasonal events since Season 4 of Rainbow Six Siege. So far there are have been more than ten, with the latest one being the promotional tie-in Rainbow Six: Extraction Containment Event, which was inspired by Rainbow Six Siege’s Operation Chimera expansion and featured a PvE game mode where players had to face the new co-op-based title’s Chimera Parasite. Another prime example is tis past May’s Apocalypse event, which included a post-apocalyptic setting with new modes, redesigned maps, and 35 new exclusive cosmetics for operators.

Almost two years later, Ubisoft has revealed that the limited-time Halloween event, Doktor’s Curse, is returning to Rainbow Six Siege on October 12th and will last for three weeks up until November 2nd. In this new revamped version of the 5v5 Monster Hunt mode, new additions and changes have been made to both groups. Previous monsters, Lion and Jackal have now joined the Exterminators – who are once again breaking through with sledges, armed with gadgets unique to its operators. On the other side is the defending Monsters team, consisting of 5 other operators who will now be assisted by Aruni and Melusi but have no weapons. Instead, players can use traps and a unique ability called “Nightstride” that grants them temporary invisibility and increases their speed to survive and win the match. Additionally, the Doktor’s Curse Collection is back and will include exclusive bundles for both operators and monsters, along with four other packs players can unlock by logging and completing Ubisoft challenges.

Rainbow Six: Siege‘s latest major update, titled Crystal Guard, introduced small reworks for several maps such as the Bank, Coastline, and Clubhouse and a powerful new Nighthaven operator named Osa who wields a large bulletproof shield. Ubisoft also revealed a collaboration with one of the most well-known horror game franchises, Resident Evil. This allowed players to unlock the series’ beloved character, Leon S. Kennedy in Rainbow Six: Siege as an Elite skin for Lion.

While a sizeable amount of Rainbow Six: Siege limited-time events have rolled out in recent months , Doktor’s Curse appears to be one of the game’s most distinctive and amusing due to the spooky twist it brings to Ubisoft’s tactical shooter. Although the event is temporary and ends in the coming weeks, players who are looking for a frightful experience during the holiday season can jump into Doktor’s Curse, where they can once again play a bloody version of hide-and-seek in a haunted mansion.
