Elder Scrolls Online Waking Flame DLC Gameplay Delivers More Oblivion

Movies

There is a new gameplay trailer showcasing what players can expect in The Elder Scrolls Online‘s next DLC, “The Waking Flame”. This will be the third and penultimate chapter of the “Gates of Oblivion” storyline, which is a year-long event currently taking place in Bethesda’s MMO.

Blackwood“, which launched back in June, was the previous chapter in the “Gates of Oblivion narrative. In it, players manage to temporarily halt the schemes of the Daedric Prince Mehrunes Dagon, but his influence has not been wiped totally from Tamriel. Now the Order of the Waking Flame, a cult dedicated to the Prince of Destruction, is on the move in search of something and it is up to the players to figure out what exactly that is and stop them.

A new trailer posted by Bethesda shows just some of what players can expect to face in the upcoming DLC. The main focus of “The Waking Flame” is two new challenging dungeons named Red Petal Bastion and The Dread Cellar, both of which are said to contain revelations that will have dire consequences on all of Tamriel. There will also be the new armor and furniture sets added to the game as well as some major graphic updates to The Elder Scrolls Online.

Even though there are only a few days left prior to the launch of “The Waking Flame”, fans still know very little about what is to come and the trailer seemed to raise more questions than it answered. As of now, the identity of the trailer’s narrator is not known and there is some speculation that there will be a new plane of Oblivion in the DLC. Both dungeons can already be found, though not entered, in the Blackwood zone of Elder Scrolls Online. It seems like players may find themselves on a different plane at some point after entering those places.

One aspect that may be a little concerning for some players is that Bethesda is already advertising the final chapter in the “Gates of Oblivion” story, “Deadlands“, which does not come out until the end of the year. Hopefully by saying “all roads lead to the Deadlands” in the trailer description does not indicate that “The Waking Flame” is of poorer quality than what is to come after it. Bethesda is likely just trying to build excitement for the whole yearly event, but Elder Scrolls Online players may now be a bit wary of the quality of content to come in just a few short days.
