Chivalry 2 Passes One Million Copies Sold In Just Two Months

Movies

Torn Banner Studios’ recently released Chivalry II has already exceeded one million copies sold after only two months on the market. Alongside publisher Tripwire Interactive, Torn Banner launched the Chivalry sequel on PC and consoles earlier this summer in June, giving fans of the first-person melee genre something fresh to sink their teeth into. And, evidently, the title is off to a great start in terms of sales.

In a celebratory post on the official Chivalry Game Twitter account, Torn Banner thanked the player community for helping Chivalry II reach a staggering one million units sold. The online medieval experience achieved such a feat within only four-plus weeks of its release, making it the studio’s fastest-selling title to date, according to Gamasutra. Torn Banner’s announcement featured a stats-centric graphic filled with other interesting snippets of information, as well. For example, players have logged more than eight million hours into Chivalry II, thus far. The Messer, apparently, counts as the most-used weapon and 420+ million knights have been slain in battle.

Chivalry II seems on pace to outsell its nine-year-old predecessor. Released on PC in Fall 2012, Chivalry: Medieval Warfare had shifted approximately 1.2million units as of August 2013. By October 2014, the hack-and-slash adventure, which hadn’t yet hit consoles, topped two million copies sold worldwide. Its current sales trajectory indicates Chivalry II won’t need two years to reach the same milestone.
