New Shang-Chi TV Spot Offers Best Look Yet At Flaming Dragons

Movies

The latest Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings TV spot features the best look at the movie’s flaming dragons. Marvel Studios continues to ramp up its marketing campaign for its next big-screen project that will introduce Simu Liu as its newest superhero. With him, comes a whole pocket of the MCU that has yet to be explored.

Plot details for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings are still tightly under wraps. Announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2019, the blockbuster was pushed back a few times, much like MCU’s full Phase 4 slate, due to the coronavirus pandemic. Now, however, it’s locked for a September release, making it the first film in the franchise to have an exclusive theatrical rollout since 2019’s Spider-Man: Far From Home. This is after Black Widow‘s controversial hybrid scheme that also dropped the Scarlett Johansson film on Disney+ with Premiere Access the same day it debuted on the big screen. Narratively, there are several things to look forward to the movie, such as the arrival of the real Mandarin, also named Wenwu (Tony Leung) who has been updated to be Shang-Chi’s father.

Trailers for the movie have been expertly crafted to keep spoilers at bay. But there are several interesting visuals from the various official footage that has been released. That includes the few sightings of a mystical dragon. The latest TV spot released by Marvel Entertainment for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings provides the best look at them in full flames. Watch the clip below:

The TV spot features two clear flaming dragons flying through what could very well be the mystical city that Michelle Yeoh’s character supposedly guards. Rumor has it that it’s the Valley of the Sleeping Dragon; no official word from Marvel Studios yet regarding this, but there has been mounting evidence backing this up. Aside from the twin creatures clearly flying through the mountains, there seem to be others of their kind in the background, which means that there are several of them. Tie-in merchandise for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings has named the primary dragon in the movie — the one that the hero encounters underwater as The Great Protector. It’s curious now what relation it holds to the ones in the aforementioned clip.

Interestingly, these flaming dragons glow the same color as Shang-Chi’s mystical power at the end of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. This makes it very easy to distinguish the energy he emits from Mandarin’s icy blue ones. At one point, the colors of the Ten Rings even change their appearance based on who’s controlling them. Given this, it’s possible that the hero may have acquired his superhero skills via the magical dragons.
