First winners announced for this year’s Business Charity Awards

Charity

Deliveroo’s support for the NSPCC during the Covid-19 pandemic is among the winners in this year’s Business Charity Awards.

The awards, run by Third Sector, recognise the outstanding support given by businesses to UK charities and voluntary organisations. The winners are being announced online over two ceremonies on 18 and 19 May.

Deliveroo and the NSPCC won the award for Best Covid-19 Partnership after the company offered the charity’s training to its riders after one of them became worried about a child at an address he delivered to regularly.

The gunnercooke foundation, which is supported by the law firm gunnercooke, won the Project of the Year award for its work with the volunteering charity Hands On London to bring together volunteers to help provide coats for people over the winter months.

Other winners include The Aviva Foundation, which took home the Corporate Foundation Award, and the consumer goods company Unilever, which won the Consortium Award for its work with 21 partner organisations and the UK government to mount a rapid response to limit the spread of Covid-19 among populations that were particularly vulnerable to the virus.
