Artificial Intelligence: a Blessing or a Curse?

Luxury

There’s no hiding from the fact that artificial intelligence is here to stay. You can find it in almost every part of your life, from health care to transport and from food production to marketing.

Many people fear that robots will eventually take over every job role, leaving human labour redundant. But is artificial intelligence something that should be feared, or should we be embracing the new advances in technology?

Where can you Find Artificial Intelligence Today?

Artificial intelligence is widespread throughout our society and is used in almost every industry. You might not realise it, but so much of our lives is already based around artificial intelligence. This includes home assistant devices, such as Alexa and Google Home, and smart watches, such as the Fitbit and Apple watch.

Many people assume that they will know when they begin to rely on artificial intelligence in their daily lives, but the majority of the population already does. If you’re nervous about incorporating artificial intelligence into your lifestyle, you may have to think twice about the technology that you use on a daily basis – chances are, you’re already using it.

However, it isn’t just home-based technology where you’ll find uses artificial intelligence. It’s also being used in healthcare to perform robotic surgeries and give prognoses. You’ll also find it in your car, acting as a self-parking or lane-assist system, a smart entertainment system or even a self-driving car.

Looking to the Future

Thanks to investments from philanthropists and investors alike, including tech investor Tej Kohli, artificial intelligence is going from strength to strength. It looks certain that they will continue to advance at a rapid rate, influencing more areas of our lives.

You’ve probably already heard about Tesla’s self-driving cars. These vehicles use artificial intelligence to control your vehicle, and although they are not yet completely autonomous, the intention is for this to happen in the near future.

Artificial intelligence has been designed to make our lives easier, make processes more accurate and efficient, and reduce costs. This technology will continue to evolve and develop in the years to come, and will soon be a part of normal life.

Artificial Intelligence: Should you Fear it or Welcome it?

Many people argue that artificial intelligence is replacing humans in certain jobs, and so, fear the technology. Although this may be the case with some job roles, artificial intelligence will never be able to completely replace human intuition.

For example, a robot assisting with surgeries will never be left unattended. The surgeon remains in control whilst the robot simply adds a level of accuracy and precision that a human simply could not achieve alone.

Although some jobs may become obsolete in the future, more will be created in developing and implementing the technology required for artificial intelligence. Jobs won’t be lost – they’ll simply adapt to meet the changing world in which we live.

Whether you embrace or fear artificial intelligence, there’s no hiding from the fact that it is here to stay and will continue to grow as the capability of the technology increases. Rather than hiding from it, we should learn more about it so that we can begin to live alongside it and incorporate it into our lives.
