When the fifth season of The Masked Singer premiered in early March, it saw a guest host and a twist like none other. This season introduced wildcard contestants into the show who would try to take someone else’s spot in the competition. In week four, wildcard Crab took the stage. Three episodes later, Crab was eliminated in a double unmasking alongside the Seashell. The crustacean was revealed to be none other than Bobby Brown. Find out what the music star was up to before competing in the mask.
Bobby got his start in music as a member of the band New Edition back in the day, but left the group in early 1986. What he might be most known for is being married to the late great Whitney Houston from 1992 until 2007. Throughout their marriage, the couple went through periods of infidelity, domestic violence, and alleged drug use before their divorce. However, Bobby denies that drug use was ever a part of their marriage.

When Crab was first introduced, fans immediately started to speculate about who could be under the mask. While many people, including Screen Rant, correctly guessed Bobby Brown, there was no way to be 100% sure until the mask was removed. Before appearing on the show, Brown was an avid watcher of the competition with his wife and children, according to EW. Brown now lives happily with his wife, Alicia Etheredge, a talented producer, who he married in 2012 (via Instagram).
Brown also stated that he has been working on a new album for the last few years, so fans can be on the lookout for that. According to Brown, the album has a lot of dance tracks, some love songs, and some extremely personal songs that he wrote. Brown has been perfecting the album for a while now, and was simply waiting for the perfect time to release it. In addition, Brown also spends plenty of time with his three youngest children – Hendrix, 4, Bodhi, 5, and Cassius, 12.
With this new twist on the show, many fans weren’t really sure what to expect for The Masked Singer season five. With only four episodes left until the finale, it could be anyone’s game at this point. But what is known is that the viewers can’t wait to find out who’s behind the mask once everything is revealed.
The Masked Singer airs Wednesdays at 8 PM ET on FOX.
