Third Sector Podcast: Chairing through Covid

In this episode, senior features and analysis writer Rebecca Cooney and editor Emily Burt discuss the plight of charity chairs during the pandemic. 

A recent report, Chairing Through Covid: Above and Beyond, found almost two-thirds – 62 per cent – of chairs had reported spending four or more days a month on their chairing role during the Covid-19 crisis. This is a jump up from 43 per cent before the pandemic.

And 18 per cent said they had spent more than 11 days a month on chairing, compared with 10 per cent before the pandemic.

The research, by the Association of Chairs, surveyed a total of 710 charity chairs in November last year.

• Youth homelessness charity Centrepoint‘s new strategy, to end youth homelessness by 2037. The idea behind this ambitious aim is that no child born this year will face homelessness when they turn 16, thereby ending homelessness for the next generation
