90 Day Fiancé: Why Stephanie Is The Ultimate Villain Of Season 8

Movies

There are many controversial stars on 90 Day Fiancé season eight, but few have divided fans quite like Stephanie Davison. The Michigan-based med-spa owner has viewers split into two camps—those who are concerned about her, and those who can’t stand her. Stephanie often displays problematic behavior, so it’s hard to argue that she doesn’t deserve the criticism she gets from fans. Her decisions are extremely questionable, and it seems she doesn’t care fans have given her the villain label.

When Stephanie was first introduced, it was clear she was the quintessential cougar who embraced her sugar mama role with her then-fiancé from Belize, Ryan Carr. Stephanie lavished him with gifts, secretly paid his wages, and gave money to his family. She never hesitates to flaunt her privilege, and seems to use her wealth to manipulate the people around her. After an explosive breakup with Ryan, Stephanie turned to his cousin, Harris, and picked up where her relationship with Ryan left off.

Fans have been quick to call Stephanie a sex tourist and think she’s highly manipulative. When she does things like paying Ryan’s wages, she’s controlling him financially and holding that over his head if he does something she doesn’t like. Stephanie is even controlling with Ryan’s family and threatened to take back the money she gave to his mom because she wasn’t grateful enough. It’s not fair to give someone a gift and then demand to get it back just because they didn’t give a good enough thank you.

Many fans can’t stand Stephanie and call her “possibly the worst person to ever be on 90 day.” They say the way she treats Ryan and Harris is disrespectful and racist. “She sees the local men of color in Belize as being interchangeable,” a fan commented. Some think she gets into these sorts of sugar mama relationships because she has too many red flags for a regular relationship to work out. “Everything about Stephanie is gross,” one fan summed up.

Stephanie can certainly be problematic, but there have also been concerns about her safety. Many fans think she has a serious problem with drugs and alcohol. They see her slurred words and questionable behavior as a sign that she is in crisis. Stephanie was also sexually assaulted by Ryan when he had sex with her without a condom—a move known as “stealthing.” Stephanie has definitely made mistakes, but she has also been a victim in this process.

There are many fans that are critical of Stephanie, and the 90 Day Fiancé star does a lot to earn that criticism. Her manipulative nature and clueless privilege cause problems and make her relationships inherently unfair. However, it’s also true that she has been mistreated and her mental state is questionable due her drinking and probable drug use. It’s hard to say whether she’s deserving of her villain label, but Stephanie seems to be working hard to make fans she is.
