Bang & Olufsen Beosound Level: Future-Proofed Audio Ecstasy

Luxury

The Danish audio specialists recently introduced the latest offering in their catalogue of high-end speakers. The Beosound Level combines restrained elegance with a range of features that ensures its lifespan far outlasts other contemporary portable speakers, thus delivering unadulterated listening pleasure for years to come.

Future-proofed Inside and Out

The Beosound Level is a prime specimen of Scandinavian engineering and aesthetics. Designed by Torsten Valeur, the speaker features a pearl blasted aluminium frame that provides strength and enhances sound quality. Customers have the option of swapping between a spare natural oak veneer or grey Kvadrat fabric covering the aluminium frame. IP54 rating for water resistance and dust further enhance its durability.

Despite its rather bare-boned appearance, the Beosound Level is packed with innovative features which maximises its lifespan relative to other speakers on the market. Bang & Olufsen’s modular design revolves around the Beosound Level’s streaming module. Containing the digital signal processing (DSP) chip, wireless connectivity tech and antenna array, the hardware holds sufficient processing headroom to handle any software updates set for the immediate future. Adding on to this, Band & Olufsen plan to offer users the option of replacing their streaming module once the processing hardware reaches its limit.

Battery life on the speaker is rated for up to 16 hours at moderate volumes, and four hours at maximum volume. The proprietary battery used in the Beosound Level is also user-replaceable, keeping with the brand’s aim of longevity through modularity. However, it should be noted that the batteries used across Bang & Olufsen’s range are not standardised. Thus, replacements will require a battery specific to the Beosound Level. Battery charging can be done through a standard USB-C port on the speaker, or the attachment of a magnetic plug.

An Adaptable Listening Experience

Providing the sound is a 5-driver setup consisting of two 4-inch woofers, two 0.8-inch tweeters and a single 2-inch full-range driver. Bangs & Olufsen “Adaptable Acoustics” allows the speaker to automatically adjust its sound production based on its orientation. For example, when laid flat, Bangs & Olufsen says it “expands the width of the sound”, allowing it to reach all corners of a room. Stood upright, the Beosound Level shifts its projection towards its front. When mounted on a wall using the optional wall bracket, the speaker adjusts projection for “room-filling sound”.

Voice control-capable with the ability to stream via AirPlay 2, Chromecast, and Spotify, the Beosound Level is the ideal for audiophiles that demand versatility. Whether used as a travel companion or to augment your home, Bang & Olufsen’s latest speaker is sure to provide high fidelity audio long after other speakers have failed. If these new features do not appeal to you, the brand has also collaborated with the French Maison, Saint Laurent to product a limited edition speaks that will spice up your room’s aesthetics.
