Charities are being invited to apply for grants of up to £1m for schemes that will help communities recover from the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.
The People’s Postcode Lottery is offering £3m in funding to charities for “high-impact and original projects” that would help communities in Britain recover from problems that had been highlighted or exacerbated by the outbreak, it said. Grants of £500,000 and £1m are available.
PPL said priority areas for support included educational inequalities, homelessness, domestic violence, health and wellbeing, poverty, social exclusion and isolation.
It said applications where there were other clear benefits to the community would also be considered.
Applications can be made until 30 October and the successful organisations will be announced in March.
Laura Chow, head of charities at PPL, said: “This fund will give charities an important opportunity to innovate in a way which will provide lasting benefit.
“We recognise that without additional intervention there is a real risk that the effects of the pandemic will be irreversible for the most vulnerable in our society.”
