Gracing the screens of spectators all around the world, the Petersen Automotive Museum will host a digital gala on 26th September 2020. The event, which is part of an online auction by Bring a Trailer, will showcase a fully restored 1961 MGA Outlaw, a once-in-a-lifetime Porsche 935 driving experience with Bruce Canepa at the Sonoma Raceway, and a six-night stay at a Scottish castle where one lucky auctioneer will be served by a private chef and a full house staff.
As a product of first frame-off restoration by the museum itself, the 1961 MGA Outlaw comes complete with larger carbs, disc brakes, a hot cam, new suspension components, and modern Oxblood interior; with wire wheels completing the exterior appearance. Disassembled all the way down to the last nut and bolt, the automobile’s all-new modern suspension components are expected to bring out the best in one of history’s greatest roadsters, with an added touch of classic British flair.
Dedicating all proceeds to Los Angeles community’s underprivileged students through the Petersen Automotive Museum Foundation, the fully-digital gala is expected to feature at least 45 minutes of exclusive content and archival footage, with personalized gift bags shipped to each ticket holder’s home address. In a statement by Petersen Automotive Museum Executive Director, Terry L. Karges emphasizes the importance of each annual gala in “…ensuring that we can continue to educate youth, engage with the community, and preserve car culture for future generations.”
