In the latest episode of the Third Sector Podcast, editor Emily Burt and features and analysis writer Rebecca Cooney discuss the reader manifesto for the future.
The reader manifesto featured in the most recent edition of Third Sector.
As the world and the sector begins to think about recovery from the coronavirus crisis, we asked what fundamental changes the charity sector needs to make to ensure it is doing the best possible job in the future.
Third Sector surveyed about 100 people from across the sector and conducted a series of in-depth interviews on what changes they think should be made.
Emily and Rebecca chat about what the survey found, and hear comments from survey contributors Laura Solomons, head of donor relations at the Sutton Trust, consultant Phyillida Perrett, chief executive of Charity Comms Adeela Warley and Paul de Gregorio, founder of the consultancy Rally.
Emily and Rebecca also share some of the good-news stories they’ve heard over the past couple of weeks, in an effort to chase away the coronavirus blues.
These include:
- The Disasters Emergency Committee coronavirus appeal which raised £15m in its first week
- Stormzy’s pledge to donate £10m to help young black people fulfill their potential – an offer that was then matched by BBC Children in Need
- CharitySoWhite’s decision to take a step back to rest and reflect on its progress
- Shelter’s legal win against DSS discrimination
