Back in March, Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl started sharing autobiographical anecdotes on a new Instagram account titled Dave’s True Stories. Grohl’s tales have covered many subjects: childhood, Foo Fighters’ first time playing Ozzfest, David Bowie, and more. Now, Grohl has released his first audio edition of “Dave’s True Stories,” titled “In Defense of Our Teachers.” Listen to it in full below.
During “In Defense of Our Teachers,” Grohl praises educators and school workers, discussing his experience being raised by his mother Virginia—a public school teacher. “As a single mother of two, she tirelessly devoted her life to the service of others, both at home and at work.” Grohl says. He goes on to relay his mother’s current concerns about reopening schools amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. “Most schools already struggle from a lack of resources,” Grohl says. “How could they possibly afford the mountain of safety measures that will need to be in place?”
Back in April, an all-star cover of Foo Fighters’ “Times Like These”—featuring Dua Lipa and Coldplay’s Chris Martin—was released for charity.
