Actual Space Force Chief Responds To Steve Carell’s Netflix Show

The actual Space Force Chief responds to Steve Carell’s new Netflix show Space Force. The upcoming series is a cheeky response to President Trump’s actual Space Force. The new show has Carell donning a far different uniform than the one he had on his days on The Office as Michael Scott. However, fans of The Office will likely be thrilled that Carell co-created Space Force with The Office creator Greg Daniels.

President Trump did in fact inspire the upcoming Netflix Original show with his proposal to create a sixth branch of the United States military. This declaration inspired Carell and Daniel’s Space Force show, which is set to premiere on May 29th. Carell’s return to television in Space Force as fictional general Mark Naird is quite exciting. The famous funnyman really hasn’t been seen on television screens since essentially being exiting The Office back in 2011 after the show’s seventh season ended. Carell has starred in multiple movies since then, but his only other television role has been on the Apple TV+ show, The Morning ShowThe new Netflix show will also star Lisa Kudrow as Naird’s wife, John Malkovich, Ben Schwartz, Jimmy O. Yang, and Diana Silvers.

Raymond is currently serving as the very first Space Force chief, and had something to say to Carell. According to The HillRaymond joked during a Space Force webinar that, “The one piece of advice I’d give Steve Carell is to get a haircut. You’re looking a little too shaggy if you want to play the Space Force chief.” He also shared he was hoping Bruce Willis would play him in the Netflix series.

The General’s words were all in good fun, and he also stated he thought Carell was a great actor, and he was looking forward to watching the show. The Space Force teaser trailer that dropped shows Carell’s character scoffing when he’s assigned to lead the brand new Space Force. In spite of his initial skepticism, Naird is seen trying his absolute best to get the new branch of the military up and running, with many comical mishaps teased along the way. The trailer doesn’t show any glimpses of Lisa Kudrow’s character, who is best known for playing the hilariously zany Phoebe Buffay on the iconic sitcom FriendsOverall, the trailer doesn’t reveal anything specific beyond Naird’s Space Force struggles, but the strong cast and premise is sure to be a comedic hit for Netflix.

With the coronavirus pandemic still affecting audiences worldwide, a Space Force comedy may just be the right dose of humor people desperately need. After all, many people are relying on streaming shows to keep them entertained because so many eagerly anticipated blockbuster movies have been delayed due to the coronavirus. The jury’s still out on Space Force until it premieres on May 29th, but if Steve Carell has proven anything in his long career, it’s that he can be trusted with comedy.
