The parenting charity NCT has moved its antenatal classes online so it can continue to support new parents while its usual face-to-face classes are halted.
The charity said it had put the measure in place in response to social distancing advice from the government.
NCT aims to support new parents through their first 1,000 days, from pregnancy to early parenthood.
It said charity said it had already run more than 50 virtual classes this week.
Local classes can be found on the NCT’s website by searching via postcode and due date.
The charity said parents would be able to meet other parents locally and would be encouraged to set up their own chat group for ongoing connection and support.
Class sizes will remain the same with about eight parents participating.
The cost of the classes depend on their length and where they take place.
In addition, the charity has set-up a Covid-19 team to keep track of government guidance and to provide support to worrying mums and dads.
The NCT feeding support line is open to new parents who want support with feeding their babies.
Angela McConville, chief executive of NCT, said: “Expectant parents need social connection now more than ever.
“Our new courses are interactive, engaging and social and provide an essential lifeline in these worrying times.
“They’re still local so also enable new mums and dads to build a community support network of other parents having a baby at the same time.”
