Action for Children has appointed Melanie Armstrong as its interim chief executive after the sudden departure of Julie Bentley.
Bentley announced her departure earlier this month for personal reasons, having only been in the post since August 2018.
Armstrong has previous experience of working for Action for Children, having left the charity in December after a 16-month spell as interim managing director of corporate shared services.
She has held previous roles at Macmillan, the London Business School and Cadbury Schweppes.
A spokesman for Action for Children said Armstrong would be paid a salary that was in line with her predecessor’s.
Bentley was paid £153,333 annually, according to the charity’s latest accounts.
Armstrong will remain in post until a permanent chief executive is recruited, although the charity’s spokesman was unable to say how long the process was expected to take.
Sarika Patel, chair of Action for Children, said: “The board and I are delighted to have Melanie back.
“She knows our organisation well and will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the charity, working closely with our executive leadership team.
“The search for a permanent chief executive is now underway.”
