Charity

There are just over 24 hours remaining to enter Third Sector’s Business Charity Awards at the reduced-cost early-bird rate.

The awards celebrate the significant contribution made by companies to UK charities and social enterprises, and are in their eleventh year.

There are 25 categories in this year’s awards, including a new Sustainability award, plus Business of the Year, which will be selected from winners on the night.

The deadline for entries at the early-bird rate is 11:59pm on 6 February.

The pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca was named Business of the Year 2019 for its work with the children’s charity Plan International UK to reduce non-communicable diseases around the world by giving young people information about how they could lead healthy lives.

This year’s winners will be announced at a ceremony in central London on 20 May.

Entries made by the early-bird deadline will cost £375 plus VAT. Those made before the standard deadline of 17 February will cost £460 plus VAT.

The experts who will be scrutinising this year’s entries include Arvinda Gohil, chief executive of Central YMCA, Edward Gillespie, head of new partnerships at Oxfam, Natasha Kashyap, head of philanthropy & partnerships at Bowel Cancer UK, Kate Franks, director of the Innocent Foundation, Faiza Khan, engagement and insight director at the National Lottery Community Fund, and Tim Hyde, the Royal Mail postman who won last year’s Outstanding Employee award, which is given to a person in a company who has made an exceptional contribution to charity with the support of their employer.
