According to various reports, rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine could be released from jail as early as this Wednesday. An original report from OnSmash suggested that all charges were being dropped and that Tekashi would be released within 72 hours.
In January this year, Tekashi, real name Daniel Hernandez, plead guilty to nine federal counts, including racketeering, conspiracy, firearms offenses, and narcotics trafficking. He’s due to be officially sentenced this Wednesday, but various reports suggest that Judge Engelmayer overseeing the case could sentence him to as little as time served, even though he faces a minimum sentence of 47 years for his crimes. Though, even as early as February, the possibility of no prison time was levied.
OnSmash‘s report that all charges are being dropped is disputed by others, but there seems to be a consensus that Hernandez is indeed being released on Wednesday. DJ Akademiks, a popular satirist and hip hop commentator on YouTube, noted judges “usually follow recommendations [from prosecutors] esp for those who cooperate.”
He’s suppose to be sentenced in 72 hrs though, for which most believe as per recommendations of probation dept n govt (prosecutors) he get TIME SERVED (immediate release).
He can still get up to 37 yrs.. however judges usually follow recommendations esp for those who cooperate.— DJ Akademiks (@Akademiks) December 16, 2019
Sources are also apparently telling TMZ that 6ix9ine is “in the dark and anxiously awaiting to hear his fate this week.” All of us, Tekashi included, will find out his fate on Wednesday when the judge makes his ruling.
