Rent the Runway Adds Ski Wear and Athleisure to Its Catalog

Style

Rent the Runway keeps on growing. After adding children’s clothing at the beginning of the year, the popular clothing rental service is now offering ski wear and athleisure, with 20 different brands available in both categories.

Sizes range from small to large, with brands like Lululemon, Terez, Fila, Champion, Mackage, Spyder, and Bogner up for grabs. According to WWD, there are more than 15,000 pieces on the site, including authentic skiwear.

Rent the Runway chief merchant Sarah Tam told WWD that the company added puffer jackets last fall and noticed high demand as customers wore them on the slopes. “She just wants variety in her wardrobe for all aspects of her busy life–for work, a night out, weekends and vacations,” Tam said. “The active renting offers constant variety and newness that the customer can’t get through buying.”

Skiwear started to appear on the site about three weeks ago, with new items added daily. Tam cites full ski onesies, ski jackets, and turtlenecks as the most popular items so far. Customers can order rentals through an Unlimited subscription ($159 monthly) or through a onetime rental: a Bogner ski jacket onetime costs $95 ($550 retail), while Aztec Mountain’s ski pants cost $125 ($725 retail).
