The retailer Aldi has extended its partnership with the Teenage Cancer Trust for four years and increased its fundraising target to £20m.
Aldi UK has raised more than £12m for the charity since the partnership began in 2017 with an initial target of £15m by 2027.
But the retailer, which announced it had passed £11m raised for the charity earlier this year, has upped the target to £20m by 2031.
Funds raised through the partnership across Aldi’s more than 1,000 stores in the UK will help Teenage Cancer Trust continue to provide specialised care, support services and dedicated facilities for young people undergoing cancer treatment across the country, the charity said.
To mark the £12m milestone, Aldi is also making an additional £12,000 donation to further support the charity’s work.
Kate Collins, chief executive of the Teenage Cancer Trust, said: “We are thrilled to reach the £12m milestone and grateful that Aldi is continuing to fundraise for young people facing cancer.
“The funds raised have enabled our nurses and youth teams to improve the lives of thousands of young people with cancer and support families during their toughest times, and our continued partnership will enhance this impact even further.”
Liz Fox, national sustainability director at Aldi UK, said the £12m milestone reflected the dedication of the retailer’s staff and “amazing generosity” of its customers.
“We’re incredibly proud of our partnership with Teenage Cancer Trust,” she said.
“Teenage Cancer Trust provides vital, life-changing support for young people affected by cancer, and we’re looking forward to raising the bar even further with our new target of £20m by 2031.”
