Lykke Li Releases Surprise New EP of Covers

Lykke Li has released a new EP of covers.

Titled Covers, the three-song project sees the Swedish singer deliver renditions of “Into My Arms” by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, “Stand By Me” by Ben E. King, and “Love Hurts’ by The Everly Brothers, showcasing her haunting croon and knack for minimalist arrangements.

The cover of “Into My Arms,” in particular, builds off the stripped back tone of Cave’s original, building out the sonic space with an ethereal, swirling atmosphere and reverb-clad melodies, all while retaining the intimacy of Cave’s lyrics.

Covers arrives today via Play It Again Sam as a surprise, and can be streamed below.

Covers is Li’s first collection of songs since her 2022 album, EYEYE, and follows another cover (of Johnny Cash’s “Ring of Fire”) released in March 2024.
