Smash Bros. Reveals Dante, Dragonborn, Lloyd, & Shantae Mii Fighters

The next Mii Fighter costumes for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate have been announced, and they include Dante, Shantae, Lloyd, and Skyrim‘s Dragonborn. This means some of the most popular choices for full Smash Bros. character representation have been relegated to Mii Fighter status.

The Mii Fighters were revealed during Kazuya from Tekken‘s mini Direct. These smaller Directs have been hosted by director Masahiro Sakurai throughout the run of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and he has used them as a means of showcasing the abilities of each new DLC fighter. Sakurai also gets the chance to discuss the history and lineage of each character, as well as showing off their stage and new musical themes. These presentations also include reveals for new Mii Fighter costumes, which need to be purchased separately. There have been times when the Mii Fighters have outshone the fighters being revealed, such as Sans from Undertale during the Banjo-Kazooie Direct.

The next batch of Mii Fighter costumes in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate were revealed during the official Nintendo Mini Direct. The characters are Dante from the Devil May Cry series, Shantae, Lloyd from Tales of Symphonia, and a Dragonborn from The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. These costumes will be released on June 29 and will cost $0.75 each. The Shantae costume adds an extra track to the game.

This reveal has already prompted disappointment on social media, as Dante and Shantae were two of the most highly requested characters for the game. Sakurai even commented on the matter after they were revealed. One can only imagine a world where Dante, Sans, and Shantae made it into Super Smash Bros. Ultimate instead of Byleth, Min-Min, and Piranha Plant.
