K-pop superstars BTS graced the Grammys with one of their best performances of the year so far. J-Hope, Jimin, Jin, Jungkook, Suga, RM, and V did an electrifying and visually breathtaking performance of “Dynamite.” They recreated the Los Angeles set from Seoul! Every second of dancing and singing was can’t-l00k-away.

It was truly one of the best and most highly-anticipated performances of the night. Clips surfaced on Twitter soon after of highlights, which you can watch below:

This is a big night for BTS: The boys are nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Dynamite.” While they didn’t win, unfortunately, they are the first K-pop group ever to be nominated in that category.

In Esquire‘s BTS interview published in November, RM spoke about the group’s dream of winning a Grammy. “We would like to be nominated and possibly get an award,” he said. “I think the Grammys are the last part, like the final part of the whole American journey. So yeah, we’ll see.”

As far back as 2017, BTS was dreaming of making a seismic impact on American music, which they truly have done.

When asked what their dream goal to accomplish in the U.S. music scene was in a 2017 ELLE.com interview, Suga said, “I want to be on the Billboard Hot 100 with a single that has Korean lyrics.” BTS has had several songs chart on the Hot 100, including “IDOL” (which peaked at #11 in 2018 and has Korean lyrics) and “Life Goes On” (which peaked at #1 in December 2020 and has Korean lyrics). They also topped the Billboard Hot 100 with “Dynamite,” their all-English single.

Jimin added, “I wish BTS could set up a model for K-pop with the best music and content so we have a positive impact on the U.S. music scene.”
