The love Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Andrew Scott have for each together has not passed. Fleabag and her Hot Priest will reunite for season 2 of Scott’s HBO drama His Dark Materials.

Scott announced the news himself during the show’s virtual Comic-Con panel on Thursday. “My daemon is going to be played by somebody who is very close to me in real life, which is a young performer and writer called Phoebe Waller-Bridge,” the actor revealed. “It’s all about companionship and friendship and loyalty and that’s what I feel about Phoebe in my real life. So, it’s wonderful that that’s happening.”

For those familiar with the dark fantasy world rendered in Philip Pullman’s book series, daemons are the animal form of a human’s soul. Waller-Bridge will play the soul mate, so to speak, of Scott’s John Parry. That’s a role this pair is familiar with. They played ill-fated lovers in the Emmy-winning second season of Fleabag. The pair met co-starring in the 2009 play Roaring Trade. (Photos from this production suggest they were forced to get close onstage.)

According to Radio Times, Waller-Bridge’s appearance in His Dark Materials is merely a cameo, and she’ll be playing a female osprey named Sayan Kötör.

Waller-Bridge wrote the role of the Priest for Scott. “It couldn’t have been anyone else,” she said at the TCAs last January, per Vanity Fair. “He’s just a magical human being. He can’t do anything other than be really complex and truthful in a character—so I knew that the moment I gave this character to him in my imagination, he became real.”

Waller-Bridge joins new cast members Terence Stamp, Jade Anouka, and Simone Kirby for season 2, per Deadline. The second season of His Dark Materials is slated to air on HBO later this year.
